All wind turbines on the market are designed to work with strong and stable winds (10 - 15 m/s), which significantly limits their use. Such winds are typical for coastal areas of the earth, the rest of the territory doesn´t have such wind resources. We have developed a 60 kWt wind generator, the blades of which are optimized for operation at wind speeds of about 4 m/s.
To improve the efficiency of the wind generator at the boundary wind speeds, a mechanism for rotating the blades was also developed. When the wind speed increases, turning the blades of the wind wheel reduces the angle of attack and, accordingly, reduces the wind load on the wind wheel. It will reduce the requirements for the strength characteristics of the blade and the mast of the wind generator and increase its safety.
